How Can You Maintain Your Colored Hair

Before studying about hair coloring and its maintenance in detail lets have a quick look about how are colors formed. The 3 primary colors - red, blue and green make other secondary colors like orange, yellow, purple etc. The color applied penetrates inside the shaft of the hair which causes the hair to change its color.

The Colour Red

Red is one such color which takes the longest time to fade away. Even blue takes pretty long time to leave the hair. When these colors are in the fading stage, the hair can change colors to not very happening shades of red, and even orange and not very pretty shades of pink.

Reds look amazing on the right kind of skin tone but if its done by someone who is of a dark complexion, the color will look like s if it was a blunder. Reds which have copper content fade away the fastest and tend to become yellow before fading. Blondes look white before fading. There are many other reasons which can cause the hair color to change like pollution, direct sun rays, salt or hard water contains minerals which can make the hair look dry.

Here are some tips to maintain your hair color:

Try using shampoos which are free off sulphate. It is a very good hair cleanser but it can also strip the hair color recently applied.

If you work outside in the sun then use hair products which contain sun screen in them. Try using products which does not contain alcohol. This tip is very ineffective cause all good hair based products use alcohol otherwise the hair takes a very long time to dry which can spoil the hair style.

Don’t leave your conditioner just try to avoid the hair creams and gloss as much as possible. Try washing you hair with cool water rather than hot water as hot water will also cause the hair color to fade away.

Don’t shampoo your hair everyday. Rinse them only when required or twice a week. Use a leave in conditioner on wet hair before getting into the pool. This conditioner will protect the hair and absorb less chlorine. After getting out of the pool, wash your hair before they get dried by themselves. If your house has pipelines of well water or hard water then make it a point to use fresh water just for the hair.

Use a hair cover while going for a tan or lying on the tanning bed.To bring back lost color try using color depositing conditioners and shampoos.

Use ammonia free and peroxide free semi permanent hair color rinses.

Today there are a number of styling and hair strengthening products which can save hair color from fading away and also protect hair fall and damage. These products also add shine and bounce to the hair. You can find these products at salons or sometimes in shopping malls. With these products you can give your hair that fresh and vibrant look that it craves to have.
