Hair Color

How Does Hair Color Work

We live in the 21st century where everything is possible. We can change hair color from grey to black and even black to grey. Earlier the only colors available were black and brown. Today one can choose from a variety of colors like red, blue, purple or anything one wishes. Depending upon the quality and the type of brand  and also upon the maintenance, the duration of the color can be guessed.

Dark To Light

Today coloring the hair from light to dark is not a big task but to change the hair color from dark to really light shade is definitely a big deal. The more the change the greater will be the amount of chemical components and therefore greater will be the amount of damage caused to the hair.

Temporary Hair Colour

People who color their hair on temporary basis undergo less damage than those who do permanent hair coloring. Even the changes and after effects in the fading stage are pretty much less in temporary coloring than in permanent hair coloring. Shampoos and colors which starts fading away after ten to twelve wash come under semi permanent colors. These colorants do not contain much chemicals. Only permanent and bleaches take more than twelve shampoos. These colorants consist of at least one or two chemical components which are required to penetrate pigment molecules in to the hair shaft.

Uses Of Peroxide

Peroxide is a very commonly used chemical component which is used in almost all permanent and demi permanent hair colorants. It is also added in bleach. It opens up the cuticle layer and help the color molecules to penetrate inside and make the color last longer. The longer the color lasting stage then greater will be the amount of peroxide contents. All permanent colors must have peroxide in it. Otherwise the color will not last long.

Components of hair color

Monoethalonamine used as a substitute for ammonia is the second most commonly used chemical component which is available in all the permanent hair colorants including bleach. This removes the natural melanin from the hair. Some remove less where as some remove all the melanin present in the hair. Removing the melanin from the hair helps the color to last longer and readily blend the hair with the new color. Hair will accept the new color quickly when there less or no melanin content present in the hair.

Advantages of Temporary Hair Color

Therefore it is advisable to go in for temporary hair colors than permanent, demi permanent colors and bleach. The chemical components which are used for permanent hair colors can cause severe damage to the hair than anything else.

Beautifully Colored Hair

Permanent colors come in all possible colors, they may look very pretty initially but with passage of time, your hair will see the changes and dryness caused by the chemicals present in the permanent colorants. Hair gives beauty to a face and to the overall personality of a human being. They should be given proper care and also proper maintenance to have healthy long lasting hair.  Staying away from permanent colors can also help you to keep your hair healthy.
