How to Keep Your
Hair Color from Fading
If you are also one
among those who have problem with their hair color then you are
definitely not alone. Read the following tips to maintain your hair
color and keeping it vibrant and also prevent it from fading.

Before Coloring
The first thing that can
be practiced is to shampoo the hair before coloring. I know many people
must be thinking that this is weird thing to do as shampoo is necessary
to clean the hair after coloring. But in reality hair color only colors
the hair it doesn’t make the hair dirty. So it is perfectly alright to
shampoo before coloring. After coloring hair can be conditioned and
rinsed with cool water.
Shampooing Tips
Try not to shampoo the
hair twice. After shampooing use tepid water and not hot water as it
will make the hair dry. Use a good quality and branded shampoo which
will help you keep the moisture intact and also keep the hair color for
a pretty long time. Hair products can be purchased from good salons or
beauty stores.
Using Hair Spray
If you need to use a
hair spray then use it the way it is supposed to be used. Keep the spray
ten inches away from the hair and then spray otherwise it will make the
hair look wet. It coats the hair and makes it dull after sometime.
Hot Appliances On
Colored Hair
As much as possible
avoid using hot appliances like irons, hot curls etc. it is so difficult
to see the heat coming out of the hair when the hair is getting ironed
or when the hair is blow dried, it causes the maximum amount of damage
to colored and even natural hair. Try telling to your hair stylist to
keep the hair dryer on low heat when styling or drying as this can fade
off your hair color.
Visiting A Stylist
Try to regularly consult
your stylist or doctor for your hair check up. The more the delay the
grater will be the damage. Hair color is lost faster on hair that is in
bad condition. Conditioners can help you retain moisture to an extent.
Advantages of
Semi-permanent colors
Try
to use semi permanent hair colors as these will help the hair color to
remain for at least a month and sometimes even more. The color will
remain for about 6-8 shampoos. These colorants leave color pigments on
the hair rather than coating them. Shampoos for colored hair also helps
in protecting hair color. Some shampoos can also help you to brighten
your hair color shades.
Trimming
It is also necessary to
cut the ends of your hair or trim them every other month or two. The
ends make the color look more faded.
Maintaining Good Hair
Good hair definitely
needs time and effort. Therefore make regular appointments and visit the
salon whenever required. Too much postponement will only spoil your hair
further. It will also change the hair color till your next visit to the
salon, if the delay is for too long. You yourself will notice a change
in the color and texture of your hair when you start taking proper care
about them.
